The firm was awarded the San Diego County Bar Association (SDCBA) Annual Award For Outstanding Public Service By A Law Firm Or Agency in May 2006. The firm is a Martindale-Hubbell AV rated law firm.

Merrianne Dean is a member of the Tom Homann LGBT Law Association. THLA is dedicated to the advancement of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender issues throughout California and the nation. She has served as a board member and currently serves on the continuing legal education committee.

As a member of the San Diego County Bar Association, Merrianne Dean has served as the Co-Chair of SDCBA’s Probate and Estate Section in 2005-2006. She is a member of the Lawyers Club where she has served on various committees. She has twice been awarded the Wiley W. Manuel Award for Pro Bono Legal Services, and holds a Martindale-Hubbell AV “Preeminent” rating.

In addition, Ms. Dean has been a member of the San Diego Probate Bench-Bar Committee since 2003 where she has worked with other attorneys, probate court staff and the probate judges to improve the services provided to the public in probate matters. One of the key programs created by the San Diego Probate Bench-Bar Committee is a full-day training program for court appointed attorneys. Ms. Dean was not only instrumental in developing that program but she is also a member of the panel of attorneys who are appointed by the court to represent elders and disabled adults in conservatorship proceedings when they do not have their own attorneys.

In 2012, attorney members of the Bench Bar Committee, including Ms. Dean, started a specialty bar association, Probate Attorneys of San Diego (PASD), dedicated to serving the needs of local probate attorneys. This new bar association now sponsors the annual Court Appointed Training program, as well as other continuing education programs specifically designed for practicing probate attorneys. Ms. Dean currently serves as the Vice President of PASD.
